coffee

At lunch time today I headed over to the Backdoor for a hot chocolate and a bagel. After I left, and was climbing into the car, I noticed an old man sitting in his wheel chair in front of the Pioneer's Home. He waved at me and said something that I could not understand. I smiled, waved back, and got into my car. But as I was about to start my car I noticed that he was still motioning in my direction. Scared that maybe he wasn't just saying, "Hi," and maybe dying, I got out of my car and walked over to him. He said, "Can you do me a favor? I would like a cup of coffee from over there," as he pointed at the Back Door.
I hesitated, considering the long line and how it might make me late for class... But then I looked closer at the old man, sitting there so helpless, and I gave in and said, "Sure, why not! What size? Cream or sugar?"
He said, "Small, with cream and sugar, please." He unzipped his fanny-pack and struggled to take out a five-dollar bill. He trustingly handed it to me and I retrieved his coffee...
